Who is Melissa’s Closet?

Melissa’s Closet is named in memory of Melissa Norwood. She was a social worker for the state of Nevada. Her passion in life was to help others. She always carried herself with a smile, even when she was not feeling her best. Her legacy for helping others will go on.

Lambda Omega Epsilon Sorority, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization. Our platform, Melissa’s Closet, serves the foster care community in Texas (Conroe, The Woodlands, and surrounding areas). Our free stores provide infant to young adult-sized clothing, shoes, coats, diapers and wipes, baby accessories, and other essentials at no cost to families.

Our Mission

By supplying much needed resources and support to those who have been affected by foster care, we hope to help create a sense of comfort, connection, normalcy, and dignity during a very difficult, uncertain time. In the process, we also hope to create genuine connections and provide ongoing support to families/caregivers. 

What We Supply



At our Melissa’s Closet, we support children in foster care by providing essential items to help them transition into new homes with dignity. Our mission is to create a welcoming environment where foster families can access clothing, hygiene products, school supplies, and other necessities at no cost.

1. **Clothing Donations:** Gently used or new clothes for children of all ages.
2. **Personal Hygiene Products:** Toiletries such as shampoo, soap, toothpaste, and deodorant.
3. **School Supplies:** Backpacks filled with notebooks, pens/pencils, and art materials.
4. **Toys & Comfort Items:** Stuffed animals and blankets for emotional support.
5. **Resource Connections:** Links to local services like counseling programs and legal aid.

**How It Works:**
Foster parents can visit our closet during designated hours or schedule an appointment to find the items they need. Volunteers are available to assist families in selecting appropriate sizes or resources.
Just to let you know, you must be a foster parent and be able to verify that you can shop at our accessible store.
